Our bereavement support

Tester & Jones Funeral Services offers a bereavement support group in Crowborough. This group provides a space for individuals who share experiences of grief and loss to support one another. We are proud to be members of SAIF Care. For more information, please contact us.

Support when you need it

Since 2008, Tester & Jones have been running our Bereavement Group (known as the BGs).  The group offers support to people who have lost a loved one and friendship with others who understand what they are going through.

Losing someone you love is a pain unlike any other, and it's something we all experience at some point in our lives. When those times come, you don’t need to feel alone. The group, along with our leader, Glenys, are here to help and support you through this difficult time.

From your very first visit, you will be welcomed, and our members tell us that it is a wonderful way to feel close to others who understand your need to process your loss.

When do we meet

We run two groups one who meets on a Saturday, which works for many as their families are often busy and they are then alone. The other group meets on a Wednesday every month. We often have speakers on a wide range of subjects.  We also meet for coffee and meals out. Please ring Glenys  Jones on 01892 611811 for more information.

We currently have trips arranged for our local theatre, RHS Wisley Gardens and Bletchley Park.  Last year we had holidays in Sidmouth, France and Torquay, and next year we are planning a trip to Holland to see the Dutch bulbfields in April.

Some recent activities

The BGs enjoy a range of activities together. As well as meeting to talk and share stories over a tea or coffee, we also run regular social activities. Theatre trips, walking groups, short breaks and lunches have all been enjoyed by the group, with more planned. One of the most important lessons we learn as we go through bereavement is that life goes on, even after such a loss.

“Accepting that first invitation to the BGs was the best thing I ever did and I always look forward to our meetings. It has been my saviour and I don’t know where I’d be without it. There are tears – and that’s fine – but there are laughs as well. We all owe so much to Glenys for creating the Tester & Jones Bereavement Group. Honestly, it’s just like having a big pair of wings wrapped around you.”
