In Memory Pins

Here at Tester & Jones, we’ve organised many funerals over the years, where families have given something to those attending to remember that person by. Examples have included seeds and bulbs, handkerchiefs, charms or small stones, sweets and candles. The seeds or bulbs – often a favourite flower - will hopefully offer some brightness in the months afterwards, while the sweets are typically ones that person enjoyed. After a burial recently, those present were offered a shot of whisky, in what was a fitting way to remember that person.

Most funeral services we organise involve an order of service and we know that family and friends like to take these home to remember that person. Today, an order of service is so much more than a guide to proceedings, with families using it as an opportunity to some photographs from different times in their life. 

We can also offer other stationery items, such as a card with a treasured poem on it or a bookmark (particularly poignant if the person enjoyed reading).  Other personalised items we can source for you include books of condolence, attendance cards and memorial cards.

One new option that we’ve been offering families recently are In Memory Pins. These provide a beautiful way of remembering that person and come in a little voile bag.

The options are wide from a rainbow heart or a cross to different flowers – such as a daffodil that might suit somebody with Welsh heritage or a shamrock for an Irish person. Other options include a treble clef, football boots, a forget-me-not and a little silver cat. In addition to the pins being given out to mourners, we’ve had some cases where members of our team and the celebrant have also worn a pin during the service in support.
