A second tree

When we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our Bereavement Group two years ago, the then Crowborough Mayor, Greg Rose, helped us to plant a commemorative tree at Barnsgate. Since then, Barnsgate has sadly closed and we are aware that this means our members can’t visit this special tree. We don’t want to dig it up though, as we know it’s thriving where it is and, who knows, we might be able to meet there again one day in the future.

In the meantime, we made the decision to use the money we were given recently, as part of the Waitrose green token scheme, to buy a second memorial tree. This has now been planted in a green space next to the Crowborough Town Council offices and our town library. It also includes a plaque, which has the same wording as our tree at Barnsgate. As it’s near a free public car park in the centre of town, we hope this tree will be convenient for our members to visit and reflect about their loved ones.
