Time to talk

The recent Dying Matters Awareness Week got us all thinking about death, dying, bereavement and planning ahead. The ‘Cuppa and a Chat’ event we held highlighted that many people have questions they’ve wanted to ask about what happens when a loved one dies and what plans we could all be putting in place for our own death.

One lady who popped in found the session so useful, that she asked to come back with some friends for a further discussion. We enjoyed meeting them all recently over a cup of tea and feel it was a positive session.

While we didn’t want the chat to be a ‘sales pitch’ for pre-paid funeral plans, a number of the folk who came in wanted to know more about them, as they felt very strongly that they didn’t want their families to be burdened with paying for their funeral. A funeral plan gives somebody peace of mind that everything has been put in place and paid for.

Others were interested to learn that the plans aren’t just about paying in advance – but give people the opportunity to plan their own funerals a little. This could simply be making it clear that they would prefer to be buried than cremated or that they wanted donations raised at the service to be given to a charity close to their hearts. Others already had ideas about music they’d like included in their services.

We would be delighted to welcome people into our office for a chat – either alone or with close family members or with a little group of friends. We would also be happy to give talks at any local groups or organisations about funerals, death, dying and bereavement.

Give us a call on tel: 01892 611811 or drop into our office to find out more.
